 X-ray luminescent technology for enrichment process of diamond materials is a basic in Russian diamond industry and in Russian overseas projects (Angola: Mineral Exploration Association " Catoca"; MEA "Kamachia-Kamagico").

X-ray luminescent technology is based on the luminescent property of  X-ray irradiated diamonds, this feature is employed in the X-ray luminescent sorters.

X-ray luminescent technology provides:

• high efficiency of diamond recovery;
• a wide size range of diamonds being recovered;
• high selectivity for the enrichment process;
• water and power savings;
• environmentally clean enrichment process;
• savings of investments into construction of mills and waste disposal plants.

In 1967 SDO of X-Ray Equipment (predecessor of  Bourevestnik, Inc.), jointly with the "Yakutalmaz" Trust (which cessionary is Alrosa Co. Ltd.) the first industrial prototype in the world of the X-ray luminescent sorter for rough diamonds was made. During almost 40 years since the first implementation of the process more than 1400 pieces of different models of X-ray luminescent sorters have been produced and installed at production facilities. Diamond sorters count several generations and are constantly improved and upgraded, an active after-sale service is provided. Nowadays there are totally over then 500 sorters made at the enterprise operating at different diamond recovery plants.
Proprietary technical solutions allow usage of sorters with wet materials with size range -50+1 mm on all stages of enrichment. Required drying is needed only prior to pre-final and final enrichment of concentrate with small particles (less then 5 mm)
In consequence of recent science developments and research the selectivity of separation is increased because of existence of the associate luminescent minerals in rough diamonds.
Complete integration of sorters into modern process control systems of diamond dressing mills is provided by electronic solutions.

Sorters are equipped with automatic self-control systems, preventing the feed of material in case of any operation faults. There is a security system that ensures safety mode against unauthorized access into the sorter's sorting machine.
Complete radiation safety for the personnel is guaranteed.

X-ray luminescence sorters to enrich diamond raw material:

• sorters to enrich initial ore  (LS-20-05N , LS-20-05-2N , LS-20-06 , LS-20-07 , LS-20-09 , LS-20-04-3N , LS-50-05 );
• sorters to retreat the concentrate  (LS-20-04-3N , LS-50-05 , LS-D-4-03N );
• sorters for pre-final and final concentrate retreatment  (LS-OD-50-03N , LS-D-4-03P , LS-D-4-04N , LS-OD-4-04N , LS-OD-6 ).
